Bristol's City Museum & Art Gallery has dedicated 2006 to the Year of Art. The best and most creative exhibitions outside of London at Bristol's City Museum & Art Gallery. The Year of Art includes exciting national touring exhibitions alongside the museum's own art collection - a variety of work from artists of many styles and cultures.

Free party to celebrate Brunels 200th birthday

April 8th 2006 sees the celebration of Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s 200th  birthday with a free party & massive firework display beneath his masterpiece – The Clifton Suspension Bridge.  Musicians, singers and actors will perform tributes to the great inventor, including a specially commissioned piece. For the first time a new lighting display will also be switched on,  on the Suspension Bridge.
